 The Chintsa Bay Beach Club Overview

The Chintsa Bay Beach Club is set on over 17 ¾ hectares (circa 44 acres) of beach front land on the beautiful Transkei coast of South Africa's Eastern Cape. The rear of the site houses a natural water dam and contains numerous varieties of indigenous tree and plant life that shall remain preserved. The remainder of the land slopes gently down to the sea from a high point 60 metres above sea level. This results in some outstanding views to the Indian Ocean, the river mouth at Chintsa Bay and the golf estate in the distance.

One kilometre north of the site, the Inkwenkwezi game reserve holds the Big Five Wild Animals and is a major tourist attraction. Adjacent to the development there is a horse riding farm and also next door is the Chintsa River Golfing Estate including hotel, village and 650 houses. The site is about five minutes by car from Chintsa East where there are several restaurants and shops. Chintsa is regarded as an up-market destination and is the favourite spot for up-country visitors.

 The Club @ Chintsa Bay

The Beach Club at Chintsa Bay is the focal point of the whole development. The position on the site chosen for the beach club and associated facilities is ideal as it is protected from any wind by the natural coastal dunes and the contours of the land.

Site Layout

The houses are in tiered rows up the hillside to ensure optimum views of Chintsa Bay are obtained while any obstructions from other housing rows are to a minimum or not at all. The apartments are positioned perpendicular to the housing units looking north towards Chintsa Bay and as they are built over only two levels on lower contours this again ensures any visual impact is small.

The Beach Club is positioned in the most wind protected north eastern part of the site using the natural contours and coastal dunes. The site is accessed through adjacent land and the security gatehouse with electronic boom is positioned at the top of the hill closer to the housing units rather then below by the main road. The beach club and all housing units are secured by perimeter fencing with full time security personnel on site once occupation commences.

The western rear part of the site is a quite steep valley and contains the natural water dam. There are many indigenous protected species of tree and shrubs in this area which are to remain protected and preserved.
